The Accessible Garden
I provided two designs for this project in response to the design brief, ‘make the garden accessible for all the family including a power wheelchair user’.
Both options include;
An upper terrace area for a morning cup of tea, with a main entertaining terrace in the lower garden.
Space for a barbeque, outdoor sofa, and dining area
A ramp leading down to the garden office.
A sculpted lawn to minimise the need for retaining walls whilst providing accessible space for all the family.
The 3D design software I use makes this sort of complicated technical design relatively easy for me to produce and much easier for clients to visualise than 2D plan images.
Ramp option:
This option uses a series of carefully calculated ramps to provide safe access to the lower garden.
Lift option:
This option incorporates a discrete lift to provide access to the lower garden.
I also added a retractable garden canopy to enable the garden to be used in all weathers.
